Teknik? E-Grips? Kingdom? Nicros? So Ill? There's so many companies out there and each have something unique to offer. Which do you feel has been most influential on the climbing community and commercial climbing gyms?

Hard one to answer, so many bring so many different things to the table.. Overall I would say Pusher (for creating ergonomic holds in an industry that didn't have a lot at the time). Otherwise, I have a really good relationship with the guys from Element and Enix and love most of their shapes

Pusher had so many amazing, friendly shapes that they have to be at the top and are still a favorite to set with. E-Grips also put out some of the best holds on the market. Teknik by far has the best jugs out there as well as having great holds of all shapes and sizes and an amazing texture. Element has got the best urethane out there, has some great intricate sets, great customer service and prices, and will hopefully expand to include more variety of jugs and simple ergonomic shapes in the near future. Enix has the same great urethane as Element and have hit the nail on the head with simple yet great sets such as the cobbles and slopers.

I think Teknik is still the standard by which all holds are measured. Creatively they may be falling behind the curve but ergonomics and functionality still rule in my book. Kingdom had combined a lot of the simple Teknik look with some creative lines as well. They are also beginning to bridge the size gap between holds and volumes, much like the euros are using giant volume size holds. To control the commercial gym market, a company needs a great selection of both jugs and foothold sets, in my opinion.

Teknik is definitely one of the best in my book. The ergonomics are wonderful and the shapes feel great for any level of climbing. Every climbing gym owns, or should own, a jug and pinch line. I think e-Grips' bubble wrap line has the best feel of any hold out there. It's very innovative and adds that bit of grip that can change indoor problems. For the dark horse, I think Detroit has the best dual texture hold hand down. The shape of the holds and textured area is just right. Very fun to set with.
